Dear iCompost customer, we have good news and bad news
The bad news is that we have been informed of a delay in obtaining raw materials from the factory's supplier due to the supplier taking longer than usual to start up again after the Lunar New Year, coupled with a global shortage of semiconductor chips. As soon as the materials arrive we will let you know an updated timeline but unfortunately it is looking like the shipment will arrive in Johannesburg in April/May. We are working on cutting out steps that we had planned in order to expedite the timeline and we will provide a detailed project management dashboard to make the progress transparent, and we will compensate you with vouchers for the inconvenience .
On the good news, we would like to let you know that the Air Filters will be manufactured locally by us and we have updated the design to be refillable rather than replaceable. This will bring down your running cost and reduce waste at the same time.
The Compost Activator is also made by us and we are in the process of applying for a patent for it.
Still on the good news (to try and soften the bad news ;) ) we have ordered plenty of spare parts because several customers have expressed concern about what happens if they break their machine. We'll have our own tech workshop in Johannesburg to take care of these. Additionally, we hired an MBA student intern in India to design an innovative end-of life policy for what happens when you're done with your machine in many years from now.
Our next update will be on 11 March, hang tight 'till then!
